About  Us

Founded in 1879

We are located at 402 Amity Street in the heart of Lowell. Our parish priest, Father Michael Goodwin, also serves St. Anthony Catholic Church in Saranac. We strive to embody the teaching of the Gospel and serve our Lord, our parishioners and our community through the celebration of the sacraments, enrichment programs and community outreach. We welcome and invite everyone to join us for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. If you are not Catholic or not a practicing Catholic, we ask that you refrain from receiving Holy Communion.  However, we invite you to full Communion after completing the Rite of Christian Initiation or reception of the Sacrament of Confession. If you would like to learn more about the Catholic Faith or have questions, please contact the parish office at 616-897-9820 or office@stmarylowell.org.

History

St. Mary Catholic Church was located on Vergennes Road, now called Lincoln Lake Road.  St. Mary's was built in 1879 and stood until a new church replaced it in 1979 on Amity Street.  The Catholic Community in Lowell had traveled to St. Patrick's of Parnell or held services in private homes with missionary priests until the original church was constructed.
